Title: Center for Stereo3D@USC
Description: The new Center for Stereo3D@USC, housed at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, is an initiative to advance stereoscopic media to its full potential, through teaching, research and production. Within our three key areas (3D Cinema, 3D Games and New Spatial Media), we are focusing on a broad array of topics, including perception, aesthetics, human factors, interaction and interface design. We see a future in which stereo 3D is as integral to cinema as sound, montage or color, and transforms it as much as any of these earlier innovations. SCA?s faculty hosts an unusual concentration of expertise in the field of stereoscopic imaging, we are currently integrating stereo 3D throughout the entire SCA curriculum, supported by a broad program of research into stereo 3D technologies and techniques.

Title: David Ellis
Description: David Ellis is an artist born into a family immersed in music. In his youth Ellis had little patience with piano lessons or reading sheet music. Instead he absorbed everything on The Super Mix, a Saturday night radio program broadcast from the nearby Fort Bragg military base. Each week a new cassette tape of emerging New York hip-hop found its way into the life of a child growing up in a log house in North Carolina. By the time Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5 released The Message, Ellis was writing rhymes and banging out beats with his friends on the desks at school. Things have since become much louder. His paintings are often recorded in a form of digital time-lapse animation Ellis calls motion painting. Join us at the Workshop for a hands on demonstration with David.

Title: Kogi BBQ
Description: At a time when chefs and food trucks were members of distinctly different classes in the food world, Chef Roy Choi rented a truck of his own and hit the streets of Los Angeles. With a pedigree that included the CIA, Le Bernardin, and the Beverly Hills Hilton, Chef Choi might have seemed like the unlikeliest candidate to have gone roadside, hawking tacos on street corners -- but that is exactly what Choi had done. From his short rib tacos to his lavishly generous (and humble) rice bowls to his Korean barbecue lamp chops, Choi?s food tastes like a side of Los Angeles that non-immigrants have never gotten the chance to know. And it was under this new guerilla approach that Chef Choi has caught the attentions of Jonathan Gold, Kate Krader and Sharlee Gibb. Choi continues to push the envelope on the streets of LA and now Orange County, imbuing his food with meaning, hidden messages and larger questions.
